How many days on Dasyueshan?
More days on the mountain make the result more reliable. Each row shows how many endemic species our past tours recorded.
One day: median 17 endemics, but results vary widely, from 11 to 28.
Two days: median 23, with a night on the mountain for dawn and dusk, when pheasants and partridges are most active.
Three days: the most consistent result. Every past three-day tour recorded at least 20 endemics (range 20–27). The extra day mainly reduces the chance of a poor day rather than raising the median. Choose three days if you start or finish in Taipei or at TPE.
Start and finish in Taichung if you can: Dasyueshan is close to Taichung and its high-speed rail station, which leaves the most time for birding.
